picture of a chart with children's ideas about what they know about balls, what they want to know, and what they have learned

This week we started our new study about different types of balls.  During the study we will learn concepts and skills in literacy, math, science, social studies, the arts, and technology while we use thinking skills to investigate, ask questions, solve problems, make predictions, and test our ideas.

This first week we talked about what we already know about balls, and came up with ideas for things we want to find out about them.

You can help us out by playing with a variety of balls with your child and talking about them.  You can describe the balls, and can encourage your child's thinking by asking "I wonder" questions like, "I wonder what's inside a tennis ball?  How can we find out?"
